Faerdre Farm Holiday cottages were established in 2021 when the Paul and Louisa made the decision during covid to take a new direction in life and move to Llandysul.
After living together in Berkshire for over 25 years, they realised a dream to move to the countryside, with land and buildings, and establish a family business around which they aspire to enjoy the fantastic natural world in which they now live.
On arrival the properties were damp, and a quick inspection in the loft identified that the water dripping through the ceiling was in fact rain coming through the roof. Over the next 18 months significant work has been undertaken across both the properties and the farmland. The Fisherman’s Cottage and Woodland View Bungalow have been completely refurbished including new chimneys and stoves, heating, kitchens, flooring and wiring. Much work remains to be done in the Farmhouse (where Paul and Louisa live), but that needs to fit around the smallholding life and paid employment.
On the smallholding various breeds of sheep, including rare breed, commercial and crossbreed sheep are grazed. Faerdre Fawr is also home to rare breed, traditional breed and hybrid chickens and cockerels, the cob horse, farm cats, dogs and a domestic cat. In the spring, there are an abundance of newborn lambs.
If that’s not enough, wildlife is abundant, with an array of birds (both large and small) seen around the local area, (and occasionally on site) throughout the year, including owls, buzzards, kites, swifts, blackbirds, robins, and kingfishers.
Paul and Louisa love to welcome friends and guests to experience the natural beauty of rural West Wales.
